Our Vision

We invite you to join the work of PAUSE (Peaceful Action Uniting Stewards of the Earth).  Our goal is best expressed as a way of living:  We pledge to work for change within ourselves and the world around us to be responsible stewards of the Creation.

Some members of PAUSE participate in a once weekly Fast for a Sustainable Future, to help us focus our intentions. All members pray, visualize or meditate daily, each according to our spiritual tradition, with the shared hope for clean water, clean air and the preferred use of renewable energy sources for all.

Our members are committed to peaceful protest in its many forms:  writing letters to our elected representatives and to newspaper editors to urge support for a sustainable future; demonstrating at events to raise public consciousness concerning our care for the earth; and, peaceful civil disobedience when necessary.

About

PAUSE (Peaceful Action Uniting Stewards of the Earth) was born following a Hands Across Our Land action designed to show our solidarity for a sustainable future.  We were part of a peaceful witness that day in August 2016 at the James River Bridge, standing in opposition to a proposed natural gas pipeline that would devastate the land we call home.

Our experience together that day was so powerful and compelling that some of us wanted that intentional, spiritual solidarity to continue and expand.

In September 2016, six of us met in Buckingham, Virginia to make a beginning together.  And so, PAUSE was born.

Currently our number includes residents of Albemarle, Buckingham and Nelson counties in Virginia.  We welcome anyone who shares our concern to join us.
